What is the USA Chidon Ha’Tanach?
For more than 60 years, the USA Chidon Ha’Tanach has inspired Jewish students to deepen their knowledge of Tanach while connecting with peers from communities across the country.
Throughout the school year, students study together, take regional exams, and work toward qualifying for the National Finals in New York. Along the way, they build confidence, strengthen their connection to Jewish heritage, and celebrate their achievements.

Our Director
Rabbi Dovi Nadel
Rabbi Dovi Nadel has served as Director of the USA Chidon Ha’Tanach since 2015. A former Chidon champion, he won the USA Middle School Hebrew Division in 2007 and placed third in the world at the 2008 International Chidon Ha’Tanach in Jerusalem.
In addition to leading Chidon, Dovi spent over a decade teachiing at SAR High School where he served as Dean of Students and Rosh Beith Midrash. He holds a Master’s degree in Bible from YU-Revel, received Semikha from YU-RIETS, and studied at Yeshivat Har Etzion. He also served for three summers as Rosh Chinuch (Head of Educational Staff) at Camp Stone.
Dovi credits two exceptional educators—Rabbi Eliezer Cohen z”l and Rabbi Pinchas Amior—with inspiring his lifelong love of Tanach.
As of the 2027 season Dovi will serve at the Director of the International Chidon Ha’Tanach coordinating with chidon programs with countries around the world in addition to his work with the USA Chidon.
